The Journey Above The Clouds - Svaneti

We set to travel to Svaneti, stopping at the Enguri HPP and several amazing viewpoints. We will spend the night in Becho, a wonderful village, with a special mineral water spring. There is an option of finding out more about the culture of Svaneti by having a music show during the dinner.

In the morning, we are heading to hike the mountains nearby. We can reach a picturesque viewpoint of the Ushba Peak, which is said to be the protector of the village. The fittest can reach the Guli Pass and enjoy the nature there. We also plan to go towards the highest settlement in the area – Ushguli, situated on 2060-2200 m above the sea level. There are several great hiking options there, and you can go horse-riding among the Caucasus Mountains.

One special hiking option is going towards the feet of the Shkhara Mountain. It is even possible to reach the glacier. You can go by foot or ride a horse.

The center of Svaneti is Mestia. On the way to it, we can have a short but impressive hike to the Lagurka church on the top of the hill. The history of the church is interesting and great views open from the hill. We can visit the interesting museum there, climb on the top of the towers, and try the delicious local food.

On the way back, we can taste the honey, made from the flowers in this wonderful valley.
